My Diet: Lowering Carbohydrate Intake

A huge goal of mine is to lower the amount of unnecessary things I am putting in my body.  One of these things is carbohydrates.  Yes, you do need carbs in order to survive.  However,  I feel like I'm addicted to them.

I could eat pasta, bread, and rice all day... everyday.  My stomach is a bottomless pit, and I feel like part of this is because of how many carbs I eat everyday.  Cutting out bad carbs isn't going to be easy, but I really need to do it.  I'm always exhausted, and I feel like part of the reason is because of the crash I get after I eat a ton of carbs.

This week I've been trying to stay away from bread, and it hasn't been easy.  I slipped up earlier today and ate a PB&J sandwich.  My friend, Rachel, and I took her kids and the girls I nanny on a picnic, and it just seemed like it was the right thing to do.  From now on, though, I'll have to find a replacement.  I could have easily brought a piece of chicken (protein-- YUM!) with us, and ate that instead.

I haven't completely cut out pasta or starches yet, but I need to do this in a slow and steady way so I don't feel deprived of them. Whenever I've tried limiting the amount of carbohydrates I consume in the past it was in a "cold-turkey" way, and it didn't work at all!

I'm trying to come up with a list of good carbs, so if you have any suggestions leave them in the comments!
