OH LORD. Corey and I just came home from an almost 4 mile bike ride, and I wanted to die. I pushed through it, but it was not easy- at ALL!
When Corey got home from work, I told him I wanted to ride toward Canterbury Village instead of the way we had taken on Monday (the opposite way). He warned me that there would be a lot of hills on the way there if we left from his parent's house. I didn't believe him, and decided we should head in that direction anyways. Turns out he was right. *Biggest Face Palm Of ALL TIME*
When you're driving in a car, you can't really tell where the hills are or how steep they are (unless they're huge), but when I was at the bottom of the first hill it looked very, very steep. I was very tempted to turn around! Corey was already halfway up the hill though, so I started pedaling. I wanted to die the entire way up the hill, but it wasn't nearly as hard as what was ahead. We got to the third hill, and I ended up having to walk my bike up it because, it was too difficult for me to pedal up it. (Side note: I'm still trying to understand how the gears on my bike work. I'm sure this would have helped me a little, but I was still figuring stuff out.)
After the third hill, we were going mostly downhill and it wasn't as difficult, but I was very out of breath and my chest felt heavy. Halfway through our ride, though, there was an even bigger hill. I, once again, decided to walk up it. I know I didn't bike the whole way, but I was still exercising and I'm very proud of that! Corey even helped me walk my bike up the hill because, I was that out of breath. When we were finally at the top of that hill, everything was a lot easier because the rest of it was downhill.
We finally ended up back in Angie & Al's neighborhood, and I really wanted to give up. I knew the end was in sight, but I was so tired. My legs felt like they were going to give out before we even got into the neighborhood, so they were even worse at this point. I made it home, and I'm alive though. That's all that matters!
I'm sure we'll go on another bike ride tomorrow, but I learned my lesson about the route we took. I think we'll meander in his parent's neighborhood for the next couple of weeks before we try anything with that much difficulty again. :)
