No Spend Month: September

Corey and I have a lot of plans for the upcoming year or so. We're really trying to pay down some of our credit card debt and school loan debt, so we can buy a house.  We currently live with Corey's Grandpa, but it's just a little too crowded here.  When we first moved in here we told ourselves it was only going to be a temporary thing. However, almost 3 years later, we're still here.  Don't get me wrong, it's nice living here because we don't have to pay rent or utilities, but it's just not what we want.

With that being said, for the month of September, we will be trying to do a "No Spend Month." What is this anyways?? Basically, what it entails is not spending money on unnecessary things.  For instance, we won't be going out to eat, buying clothes, or spending money on things that we absolutely do not need.  This means I won't be buying any planner supplies :( . Don't worry, I put in one last order of stickers today ;).  Since we won't be spending money on meaningless things, we should have a good chunk of money left over at the end of the month.  The extra money will go towards our debt. As soon as our debt is paid down a little, we'll be able to start saving for a house.

Just so we can stay on track and not feel deprived, we've decided that we'll probably be going out to eat *only* once a week.  This is going to be super hard for us since we eat out a lot.  We're very busy people, and don't really make time to prepare food for ourselves.  This is going to take a lot of planning, but I'm looking forward to have extra money for our debt at the end of the month!

Depending on how well September goes, we may schedule another one for November (try to do it bi-monthly). Starting tomorrow, our lives our going to be very different!
